Hello everyone. In this blog post I will talk about what I needed to do to move a step closer to my dream. How to start a trip? You will need to learn a few things. Keep reading.
“El Sepu soy yo”.
-El Sepu
Meaning “I'm El Sepu”. This may be some kind of class… so welcome again. Today we are going to talk about how to start the trip, what to carry with us and how to leave our comfort zone…
If you don't know how I am, please follow this link to read about my story.

#1 Learn about your bike and get along with it!!!
When I was about to start my trip, I went often to mechanic workshops with la Balita in Talleres Escobar, Guayaquil Ecuador. There, Mr. Carlos Escobar and his team showed me how to:
- Fix,
- Repair,
- Respond to most situations with my bike.
I’m not saying I’m a mechanic nor I know a lot about automobile mechanics. But what I’m saying is that you need to learn how to fix your bike if it gets broken down in the road.
It's crucial!
Therefore, you can continue traveling if something wrong happens….
#2 Don’t say “just in case”!!!
This is very important, so pay attention.
Caring useless weight will not only slow you down, but it will also increase the fuel spending. Consider the wear of your bike's pieces as well.
When I say don’t “just in case”, it's because so many times we carry things we don’t ever use.
Well, don't!
Then what?
Carry the tools that your bike requires and carry the baggage that it’s needed. This last advice goes especially for women, who carry lots of clothes everywhere.
Before you take your first step, begin with trying with different combinations of tools and utensils around the motorcycle until you find out which works better for you.
By the way, if you want to know what I recommend you to bring along your trip, please let me know in the comments below.
#3 How to say good bye “adiós” and how to start a trip.
This moment is usually a very hard and we should get ready for it even that we won't be ready anyway.
I have never been good at saying goodbye. Maybe that’s why I think it’s so important because when I started my trip, I didn’t say goodbye properly to my friends and family. I was (kind of) in a rush and trying to go out finding the moment to leave… wasn't going to be happen either.
That’s not a really good way to start the trip, my friend. That’s why I recommend to say goodbye properly and show affection to people that you care with kisses and hugs with your friends and family. Because once you start, you don’t know when you will see them again…
Finally don’t miss any moment to record everything on your mind. Your bike is ready, you have got the knowledge to fix most mechanical breakdowns and you have already said goodbye to the people you love… so YOU'RE READY!!!
#4 One day only…
Set the date, get you’re belongings ready and go!! Enjoy!! Explore!!
Are you afraid? Sure, you must be. We all are at some point but it’s just the gate that will allow you to open yourself to the world. Those are the events that your adventure soul is claiming your whole life!
So now you're ready to jump into this adventure that's called “living”…
And that is the real way of LIVING!!!
