Hello everyone! My name is El Sepu.
Welcome to my Master Class… mmm well, not really hahahaha. It is more like sharing experiences that can help other travelers around South America and for many other places as well. I'll tell you how to do a motorcycle trip in South America.
While studying in high school, I met with Juditova many years ago and we have been friends ever since. He became later the witness of the start of my journey.

The Beginning…
I was born in Cuenca, Ecuador and since I was 5 years old, I have being riding motorcycles. My first great bike was the Honda XRZ 50cc.
After high school, I've studied Medicine and I graduated as doctor. I worked later on rural medicine one year and then I knew it was already time to stop and seize my dream, which was:
Ride across South America on motorcycle.
El Sepu.
The motorcycle chose me…
My story begins in 2015, with La Balita (which means “little bullet”). It is my 150cc two-stroke engine Vespa. She was born in 1997 and we fell in love immediately. She became my iron horse and together we conquered this dream.
“You don't choose your bike, she chooses you.”
Old motorcycles enthusiasts quote.
As I said we connected like the movie ‘Avatar’. Between us, some say that is not the best bike to do something like traveling, but she’s just perfect for me… and also the only bike I had in that moment, so I started a process to prepare her to do this amazing dream I had.
Slowly but consistently in a vespa-specialized workshop in Guayaquil ¨Talleres Escobar¨ (not Pablo Escobar’s of course!! hahaha). I learned how to repair La Balita if it breaks down during my trip, changing or fixing old parts, learning about possible mechanical issues that could happen to this old Vespa scooter or how to do a general maintenance.
It all started with a dream…
Everything starts with an intention… so, how are you going to do that? I had already a vespa, it's a classic small engine italian scooter, but she has proved to me her skills and strength many times during trips around Ecuador; between the highlands, the rainforest and the heat of the coast…
Where did my dream take me to?
I've traveled through South America visiting this countries:
- Ecuador
- Peru
- Bolivia
- Chile
- Argentina
- Uruguay
- Brasil
- Paraguay
summing more than 30000 Km with my beloved vespa scooter La Balita.
Can you do a Vespa travel?
How to start? That's the question people asks me all the time. But I always answer the same… If you want to do something, be like Nike… just do it!! I know it sounds like a cliché but that's for real. If you want to start a trip or if you want to know more about other countries, the people and taste flavors you've never tried before, then you need to get out of your home now!!!
Would you like to know how it is like to be in other places instead of just watching it on TV or in the Internet? My stories would not give you the answer, but they can inspire you to take action.
